How Do You Know When You Are Out of Balance?

I didn’t even know my body was out of balance.  I wasn’t sure one way or the other.  But my Body was sending me symptoms in the form of lower back pain, tight hips, weak hamstrings, and a bit of sciatica.  Which was enough to get my attention, since it had begun to interfere with my activities, standing, hiking, and work.  I was spending a good bit of effort and time to seek out the source and cure the problem. 

It moved around and showed up at different times making it difficult to track.  I knew I had been diagnosed with degenerating lumbar disks and a bit of stenosis years ago, so I was looking into the latest treatments for sciatica, including the latest surgery techniques.  And yes, lots of YouTube videos from all kinds of people with physical therapy rehab expertise.  Stretching was no longer working. But my Body was no doubt telling me I was out of balance!

Of course there were other signs of being out of balance.  Foggy brain, nothing really working, stagnation, failure to write, creative block, and cravings for sugary artificial feel good remedies.  But overall, things were just not meshing in many aspects of navigating this precarious world that we know is out of balance. 


So in a world out of balance, that is a powerful force pulling on us to stay in freeze, fight, or fight emergency mode.  Chaos, confusion and all the crying babies take a huge toll, no matter how we try to make it all ok in our minds and hope it will get better.

Relearning How to Walk

And now, one month into the 3 month Training, I’m really enjoying meditating in on the place, where I turn on just enough core pressure with support from my glutes and turn off just enough of the dominator muscles to engage my pelvic floor muscles, hold my pelvis forward, in a way tht straightens and protects my lower lumbar spine.  And Dr. Peebles implemented the Training in such a way that reteaches your body to maintain and strenghten a strong and balanced core automatically without thinking.  Because at the beginning, the breathing and movements felt very awkward as my body turned on my unused glutes and internal core.  It really is, and feels like relearning how to walk!
